Conditions of carriage

Nuup Bussii A/S decides how tickets are sold. Nuup Bussii A/S may at any time and without notice suspend the sale of tickets, in full or in part.

A valid ticket gives access to travel on the city buses in Nuuk as Nuup Bussii A/S runs them at any given time. The published timetables are a guide to how Nuup Bussii A/S runs its services. Nuup Bussii A/S may at any time and without notice change, reroute or cancel services on the city buses in Nuuk.

Nuup Bussii A/S may refuse a ticket when the electronic ticketing system, for whatever reason, cannot verify it as valid.

Nuup Bussii A/S accepts no liability for damage or loss caused by changes to, rerouting or cancellation of services on the city buses in Nuuk, or by a ticket being refused as invalid.

Nuup Bussii A/S reserves the right to carry out unannounced ticket checks. The location and layout of the bus stops, snow clearing and the like are the responsibility of Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq’s Department of Construction and Environment, which is also responsible for keeping the bus shelters in acceptable repair.

Tickets are valid for 1 hour and are stamped with the time they expire. This applies to children and adults alike.

Children below school age and pupils at the public and independent schools (folkeskole and friskole) travel free if they live in Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq. Pupils in grades 8–10 need a personal school bus card and scan it on the bus. Free travel ends when the pupil completes compulsory schooling, even if they have not yet turned 16. Senior citizens living in Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq, including early-retirement and civil-service pensioners, travel free when they show their senior citizen bus card.

Several people travelling together can share one punch card, with one punch for each person. If the card is to be scanned for several people, tell the driver first. A punch is valid for 1 hour, and the time it expires is recorded when the card is scanned.

A monthly pass is a card with a photo and a name. The card is strictly personal and must be scanned electronically when you board. A monthly pass is valid for 30 days from the date of purchase and gives unlimited travel on the city buses in Nuuk.

A senior citizen bus card is a personal card with a name and a photo. It is issued at the Nuup Bussii A/S office to pensioners who live in Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq, including early-retirement and civil-service pensioners, when they show proof of their pension and residence. The photo is taken at the office.

The card is strictly personal and must be scanned electronically when you board.

The senior citizen bus card gives unlimited free travel on the city buses in Nuuk.

Nuup Bussii A/S issues school bus cards from the class lists that the schools in Nuuk send every August. A school card is a card with the pupil’s name and is valid every day of the week, all year round. The card is strictly personal and must be scanned electronically when you board. It gives unlimited travel on the city buses in Nuuk from 06:00 to 00:07 every day of the week, all year round.

Payment: Tickets bought on the bus can only be paid for in cash. Please pay with the exact amount if you can. Drivers may refuse large notes (DKK 500.00).

Dogs: Dogs, cats and other pets are not allowed on the buses.

Prams and pushchairs: Prams travel free. They may be taken on board if the driver considers that they will not bother other passengers. No more than two prams are allowed on each bus. Wheelchairs travel free as far as space allows. See the separate guidance on prams and pushchairs on the bus.

Bicycles: Bicycles cannot be taken on the buses.

Buggy boards and scooters: Buggy boards and scooters that adults use to carry small children may be taken on the buses, provided they do not bother others. Roller skates may be carried but must not be worn.

Smoking and e-cigarettes: Not allowed on the buses.

Ice cream, food, drinks, alcohol and the like: Not allowed on the buses.

Firearms: Must not be taken on the buses.

You may not bring objects or anything else that could soil or otherwise bother other passengers (petrol, oil and the like).

For kindergartens and similar institutions with many children below school age, the adults pay the normal fare and the children below school age travel free.

If an electronic card is misused, the passenger is fined and must also pay for a ticket for the trip. If the fine is not accepted, the driver must refuse the passenger travel or remove them from the bus. For repeated misuse, Nuup Bussii A/S may ban the passenger for at least 1 month. Getting a confiscated card back costs DKK 50.

You can only board and leave the bus at the designated bus stops.

The driver has the right to refuse or remove anyone who bothers the driver or the other passengers.

The police may be called to help remove a passenger.

Lost property is kept by Nuup Bussii A/S for 14 days and then handed to the police. Nuup Bussii A/S accepts no liability for items or valuables left on the buses.

Nuup Bussii A/S accepts no liability for delays caused by bad weather, slippery roads, major equipment failures or unplanned rerouting.
